Hi all,
Boy (yes, Boy) Brainerd is the National Wine Pimp (I’m not making this stuff up) for the Twisted Oak Winery and he is going to be here this Friday, September 21st. You can leave your attitude at home. This is going to be fun! They are from Calaveras County, California and generally make wines from Spanish varietals. Liza and I tasted the wines a month or so ago and loved them all. The best were the Verdelho, the Viognier, the Grenache (I suspect it is really a Garnacha), the Tempranillo, the Murgatroyd (as in “Heavens to …) and the *%@#$ Red.
The presentation will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food in the valley at any wine tasting. We have been having larger than expected crowds again so we are limiting attendance to 45 guests.
We are going to try something different on Wednesday, the 10th of October, starting at 6:30. We are going to do a flight of La Crema Appellation Series Pinot Noirs (Russian River, Carneros and Anderson Valley). These are three of the nicest Pinots you will ever taste and they are priced about $30 per bottle. Oh, the tasting is free, too.
Please take notice if you didn’t catch this last couple of weeks. We are going to present The First Annual Wine Challenge on Sunday the 30th of September. We will donate one dollar for each of the first 100 bottles purchased between 3 & 5 PM to the Santa’s Secret Shopper (that is where Linda makes Christmas for some young mothers). I hear that someone has come forward and will donate $2 per bottle for the second 100 bottles. The first 20 people to purchase a bottle will get a lovely wine gift bag from Lisa T’s Party Shop. Divine Wines is helping out too. And there will be door prizes and pizza from Oscars. You can still get 10% off if you buy a case. Get a jump on your holiday wine shopping and help out some needy kids.
Keep smiling,
Liza and Bob
The Twisted Oak tasting with Boy was a lot of fun. The wines were good and the presenter had a great personality. Thanks for the great night!
