Hi all,
WINE TASTING – Mona Riedel from Southern Wine and Spirits is going to present the Cecchetti Wines this Friday, October 23rd. We’ll try the Red Tree Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel (yes, the red kind) and Cabernet Sauvignon. Then we’ll finish with Hahn Meritage which includes healthy portions of Petite Verdot and Malbec. The Red Tree wines are fresh, fruit forward wines that are varietally distinctive.
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class (usually six) and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.
WINE DINNER – It is less than a week to our wine dinner. On Saturday, October 24th starting at 6:30 PM Chef Stuart Epstein will prepare a four course dinner and cooking demo. You’ll be welcomed with a Prosecco from Zardetto before getting into the meal. The menu is Prosciutto Wrapped Scampi which will be paired with a Cabernet/Merlot/Syrah blend from Goose Ridge, Fresh Pasta Primavera paired with a Santa Barbara Chardonnay from Geode, Panko Crusted Grilled Chicken Medallions paired with an Edna Valley Pinot Noir from Tolosa and then finish up with Tiramisu for a climax. Reserve your place for $50.
MUSIC – Rootdown is coming back but it isn’t going to be on November 14th. We have a previously schedule fund raiser that evening that I had forgotten about. When we get a good date I will let you know.
But sax man Bryne Donaldson will definitely be back on the first Saturday in November, the 7th. We hope to see you then!
THANKS – Ron got a full house last Friday as everyone wanted to go around the world without leaving home. The wines were good, the prices were right and it was a lot of fun. Our thanks to everyone that showed up and our apologies to those that didn’t get in. Show up early to ensure yourself a seat.
THINGS TO DO – On November 22 in the Phoenix Historic Railroad Park at the Farm on South Mountain, there is going to be the Arizona Wine Growers Festival. For more info go to http://www.azwinefestivalatthefarm.com/ .
OTHER – If you don’t want to continue to receive these weekly newsletters please send me an email at eel55@qwest.net. Just put “Remove” in the subject header and I’ll take you off the list before sending out the next edition.
We’re going to continue to continue to participate in the program called Taste of the NFL through the end of the year (maybe through the Super Bowl). Come and pick up one or more of the featured wines and you can help out too. 2-1/2 meals will be served at St Mary’s Food Bank for each bottle sold.
There is a local guy that takes our empty wine bottles and turns them into recycled wine bottle glasses. They look great, are now dishwasher safe and help the environment. We have them for sale in sets of four, with or without our logo, for $20.
We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.
You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
Have fun,
Liza and Bob
