Hi all,
WINE TASTING – Ron is back! The wine class this Friday, October 16th, will be presented by Republic National and will start with my favorite Italian Pinot Grigio from Caposaldo. Then we’ll try Santa Rita Reserve Carmenere, Colores del Sol Malbec, Rutherford Ranch Zinfandel, Santa Rita Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and finish with a Shiraz from Penfolds called Bin 128. We’ll call it an Around the World Tasting.
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class (usually six) and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. Even though it hasn’t been an issue lately we are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.
WINE DINNER – It is less than two weeks to our wine dinner. On Saturday, October 24th starting at 6:30 PM Chef Stuart Epstein will prepare a four course dinner and cooking demo. You’ll be welcomed with a Prosecco from Zardetto before getting into the meal. The menu is Prosciutto Wrapped Scampi which will be paired with a Cabernet/Merlot/Syrah blend from Goose Ridge, Fresh Pasta Primavera paired with a Santa Barbara Chardonnay from Geode, Panko Crusted Grilled Chicken Medallions paired with an Edna Valley Pinot Noir from Tolosa and then finish up with Tiramisu for a climax. Reserve your place for $50.
MUSIC – Rootdown is back! Plan on being at the shop to listen to the guys play some great jazz on November 14th (yes, I screwed the date up last week). That is a Saturday. Hope to see you then.
And sax man Bryne Donaldson will be back on the first Saturday in November, the 7th.
THANKS – Thanks to Kelly and thanks to you that came by. We’re going to continue to participate in the program called Taste of the NFL through the end of the year. Come and pick up one or more of those featured wines and you can help out too. 2-1/2 meals will be served at St Mary’s Food Bank for each bottle sold
THINGS TO DO – On October 17 and 18 there is going to be a Wine Festival in Willcox at the Railroad Park. Eight Arizona wineries will be represented. For more info go to www.azwinefestival.com .
And then on November 22 at a different railroad park, the Phoenix Historic Railroad Park at the Farm on South Mountain, there is going to be the Arizona Wine Growers Festival. For more info go to http://www.azwinefestivalatthefarm.com/ .
OTHER – There is a local guy that takes our empty wine bottles and turns them into recycled wine bottle glasses. They look great, are now dishwasher safe and help the environment. We have them for sale in sets of four, with or without our logo, for $20.
We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.
You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
Have fun,
Liza and Bob
