Hi all,
Got lots of news this week. I’ll be doing the wine class this Friday, March 30th. I haven’t decided what to do yet but you know I will like the wines. (Ha, ha!) There were some empty seats last Friday, hint, hint.
The presentation will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class cost $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try a half a dozen wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food in the valley at any wine tasting.
Thanks to Scott from Southern Wine for doing a great blind tasting. We learned a lot and had a wonderful time.
Cave Creek Wines is hosting “A Taste For A Cure” on Sunday, April 1st. It is a fund raiser for Cystic Fibrosis. For $20 cash you can participate in the Wine Tasting and enjoy some excellent appetizers. Mention the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and we will donate the discount to the Foundation.
There is a rumor that started as a joke that those that went on the wine trip last year to Napa can’t go on the trip this year to Paso Robles. Its not true! The people that have expressed an interest get first shot but I suspect that now that we have the particulars there will be some openings. So far we are limited to 28 people and have about that many that have expressed an interest.
We will fly from Sky Harbor to San Louis Obispo at 10 AM on Friday, August 10th. We get picked up by two 14 passenger vans and taken to Peachy Canyon Winery. We’ll do another winery or two that afternoon before being dropped off at the Paso Robles Inn. Dinner is on your own but there are many restaurants in the downtown area. On Saturday we will tour and sample on the East Side at Tobin James, J Lohr and another winery or two that are yet to be determined. Lunch will be at one of the wineries. We’ll get back to the hotel after 5 PM.
On that Saturday evening, August 11th, there is a Winemaker Cook-off where 20 wineries are serving gourmet food right off the BBQ paired with their wines. It is $75 per person. The van(s) will take us there if there are enough that want to participate.
On Sunday we tour and sample on the West Side at Wild Coyote where we do a barrel tasting, Norman Vineyards where we will do lunch, Villacana, Justin and then finish off at the Willow Creek Olive Ranch where we will do an olive oil tasting. On Monday, August 13th, it is breakfast and back to Phoenix.
For $1060 you get round trip airfare, ground transportation, hotel accommodations (double occupancy) for three nights (August 10, 11 & 12), wine tasting and touring, full breakfasts each day and lunches on Saturday and Sunday. We will need a deposit of $300 by April 15th with the balance due by June 15th. Let us know. My guess is that I’ve made a mistake or two on this message and someone will point it out to me. It will be better next time.
Keep smiling,
Liza and Bob
We’re thinkin’ wine trips could be fun. We did a road trip Friday, 23 to Vegas to visit Smith & Wollensky’s Steakhouse for a wine tasting lunch there. It was the last day of some kind of wine week there. We must have had 12 or more premium wines to try. I lost count (and the abilty to speak) near the end. We were there from 11:30 am until after 3:00 pm. Let us know if ya want to view some pics of that trip.
