Hi all,

I received some justly deserved, constructive (?) criticism for the first line of last week’s newsletter. It was intended to imply that we are still open for business and we would love for you to come by and enjoy a glass or buy a bottle.

WINE TASTING – Kelly McDowell from Alliance Beverage will present the wine class this Friday, July 24th. She’s a CCW presentation virgin so please be nice. This week we’re off to South America. You know it is winter down there! We’re tasting three wines from the Casillero del Diablo line in Chile (Sauvignon Blanc, Carmenere & Cabernet Sauvignon) and three from the Trivento line in Argentina (Torrentes, Syrah & Malbec). These are all great and affordable.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting attendance to the first 45 people (like that really matters during the summer).

MUSIC – Bryne Donaldson and his saxes will be in the shop next from 7 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, August 1st. Mark your calendars for a fun evening.

BARREL TASTING – The barrel tasting at Canelo Hills was a grand success! Each day was sold out. I know that a few of you went down and am eagerly awaiting a report on the festivities.

THANKS – We certainly appreciated both of you for showing up to listen to Mona at the wine class on Friday (that is a little bit, but only a little bit, of a joke).

OTHER – The newest edition of Arizona Vine & Wines is available. And yours truly penned the article starting on page 8. There is actually a lot of very well written and very interesting stuff to be found inside. We have few copies available by the cash register.

We have wine shipping boxes. Most have Styrofoam inside a cardboard box that surrounds each bottle. They come in 2, 4 and 12 bottle sizes. And they are FREE!

There is a local guy that takes our empty wine bottles and turns them into recycled wine bottle glasses. They look great, are now dishwasher safe and help the environment. We have them for sale in sets of four, with or without our logo, for $20.

There is an Arizona Wine Club. Visit www.azvinowineclub.com to join. You can get three Arizona wines shipped to you or you can pick them up at our shop three times a year.

We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.

You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.

We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob
