Hi all,

NEW HOURS – Our closing times on Fridays and Saturday nights are now 10 PM.

WINE TASTING – The next wine class will be on this Friday, January 15th. We’re going to try some wines that we’ve carried for awhile and some new stuff too. The line up looks like this: 1) Kenwood Sauvignon Blanc, 2) I’M Chardonnay, 3) Purple Hands from Oregon, 4) Jam Red, 5) Lake Sonoma Zinfandel and 6) PurVine Cabernet Sauvignon. Kelly McDowell from Alliance Beverage is going to be the speaker.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class (usually six) and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.

WINE TRIP – We’ve been asked a few times about a wine country trip in 2010. Since things didn’t work out so well last year I’m going to get some preferences first. If you would like to get out of town this summer (mid July to mid Sept) to visit some wineries and get treated like royalty, let me know when you would prefer and where you would like to go. I’ll try to put together a trip that will please the most folks.

MUSIC – Thanks to Bryne Donaldson for another wonderful night of live music last night. He will be back on the first Saturday in Feb, the 5th. Note that we’re back on schedule on the first Saturday of the month for live music. We hope to see you then. Remember there are no cover and no minimum drink purchase.

THANKS – We certainly appreciate everyone that stopped by to listen to Bryne and everyone that showed up for the wine class to listen to Ron. Both nights were a lot of fun. And our apologies to those that didn’t get in on Friday. Since we do limit attendance to the first 45 folks, getting here at one minute to six may not get you a place.

OTHER – We have a few “VIP Tickets” to the Home & Garden Show on January 15, 16 & 17 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. They will get two people in for free. They are by the cash register.

We have the newest issue (Winter 2009) of Arizona Vines and Wines. There is lots of great information about the state’s wineries and is free!

Linda is starting to think about raising money for Santa’s Secret Shoppers already and the first fund raiser will be on Thursday, February 11. We’ll have a “Movie Night” and show the film about an Englishman that inherits a French winery. It is called A Good Year and stars Russell Crowe. She always puts on a great event so it will be fun and you can help a worthy cause too.

We’re going to continue to continue to participate in the program called Taste of the NFL through the Super Bowl. Come and pick up one or more of the featured wines and you can help out too. 2-1/2 meals will be served at St Mary’s Food Bank for each bottle sold.

There is a local guy that takes our empty wine bottles and turns them into recycled wine bottle glasses. They look great, are now dishwasher safe and help the environment. We have them for sale in sets of four, with or without our logo, for $20.

We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.

Help us save a tree! We have wine bags for sale at $2.50 that will hold up to 6 bottles of wine. When you use it for two bottles or more we will give you a 25¢ discount.

You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.

We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob
