Hi all,
Lots of information about Linda’s fund raising dinner on Thursday, the regular Friday night wine class, Don and a special Champagne (ok, sparkling wine) Tasting on Saturday, December 19th.
WINE TASTING – Janice from Young’s Market is going to present at the Wine Class this Friday, December 11. The line looks like this: Carmen Chardonnay, Spanish Quarter (I don’t remember what this is but everyone that tried just loved it), Gainey Merlot, Earthquake Petite Sirah, Kick Ass Cab and Lust Zin. Some really BIG wines at some great pricing.
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class (usually six) and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.
Coming up on Saturday, December 19, Paul from Young’s Market will be doing a tasting of 3 different Schramsberg Sparkling wines. You can try them for free and order for a Tuesday pick up. Stock up for the holidays!
ITALIAN DINNER & RAFFLE – Linda is going to have an Italian Dinner on Thursday, December 10th to benefit Santa’s Secret Shoppers. Of course there will be pasta and meat or Alfredo sauce but also breads, salad, a relish tray and a special dessert. You get all that and a glass of Italian wine for $15.
There will be prizes and a silent auction too! You will get all that and get to feel great about helping some girls that certainly could use the help at Christmas time. Reserve your spot now for a 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM seating.
THANKS – Eugene and the guys in Rootdown were great! Everyone had a grand time listening to them. Thanks to everyone at the wine class too. Tony and Michele won the Ugly Christmas costume contest.
RIESLING – We always carry a nice selection of Rieslings, mostly from Germany. These are great wines for the Holidays.
MUSIC – Sax man Bryne Donaldson will be back on the second Saturday in January, the 9th. Note that the 9th isn’t the usual first Saturday for live music. We hope to see you then.
OTHER – Don usually sits next to the wine lockers at our wine classes. He is in the hospital but doing well. If you would like to contact him to wish him well you can write to him at:
Osborn Health and Rehab
ATTN: Donald Sprigings, Room 228
3333 N. Civic Center Plaza
Scottsdale, AZ 85251
Or call him at: 480-994-1333, ext. 2241 (room phone) or 602-370-5367 (cell phone).
We’re going to continue to continue to participate in the program called Taste of the NFL through the end of the year (maybe through the Super Bowl). Come and pick up one or more of the featured wines and you can help out too. 2-1/2 meals will be served at St Mary’s Food Bank for each bottle sold.
There is a local guy that takes our empty wine bottles and turns them into recycled wine bottle glasses. They look great, are now dishwasher safe and help the environment. We have them for sale in sets of four, with or without our logo, for $20.
We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.
Help us save a tree! We have wine bags for sale at $2.50 that will hold up to 6 bottles of wine. When you use it for two bottles or more we will give you a 25¢ discount.
You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
Have fun,
Liza and Bob
