Hi all,

WINE TASTING – Devin from Alliance Beverage will be showing us some of the wines we did taste in Sonoma this Friday, August 15th. We haven’t finalized the list but they are going to be from Folio Wines which was one of our favorites on the trip. They make wines that are sold under the I’M, Spellbound, Hangtime and Oberon labels. The I’M Chardonnay was wonderful as was the Oberon SB. Oberon also has a Cab and Hangtime a Pinot Noir that are great! We’ll probably also do the Spellbound Zin and get another to round things out.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting the class size to 45. Our apologies to those that didn’t get in on Friday.

We’re going to do a special Zin Tasting on Saturday the 23rd from 5:30 to 6:30. Ron from Republic National hosting a preorder zinfandel tasting of wines from 100 year vines. The wines will be the St Francis Pagani Vineyards, their Sonoma Old Vines, Oak Ridge Moss Roxx, their OZV, the Steele Catfish Vineyards and Laurel Glen’s ZaZin. Maybe not surprisingly several are from Lodi.

MUSIC – Another great night of jazz is coming! Bob Ravenscroft is still in Colorado so Russell Schmidt will be subbing on the piano and Dwight Kilian will be on the stand up bass this Saturday, August 16th at 6 PM until 8:30 PM. Russell’s resume is filled with accomplishments that would take another email to cover. You will be impressed! Remember that there is no cover and no minimum. Just come in and listen to some really talented musicians play some really great jazz.

THANKS – Chef Jimmy of Scott’s Place deserves a thank you for doing the food for the wine class last Friday. And thanks to all of you that came by too.

OTHER – If you have ever seen our beautiful business cards they are from PDQ Printers just down Cave Creek Road. And they are PDQ too. They are conducting a “Sleeping Bag, Blanket and Hooded Sweatshirt drive” for homeless kids in Maricopa County. If you have any of those items or school supplies you can drop them off at 14644 N Cave Creek Road and feel really good about helping out.

We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

We have a new edition of the publication called Arizona Vines and Wines. It has a lot of information and is beautifully done. Look for it by the cash register next time you check out.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob
