Hi all,
WINE TASTING – Just off his victory in the Cab Challenge a few weeks ago, Jeff Howell of the Valley of the Sun Distributing is going to taste us on some excellent wines, mostly from California, this Friday, June 18th. We’ll start with the exception, the Elk Cove Pinot Gris from the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Then we’ll try the benchmark Matanzas Creek Sauvignon Blanc, the Carmel Road Pinot Noir from Monterey, the organic and modestly priced Girasole Zinfandel, the Kinton Syrah and then finish with the Revenge Napa Blend (a small production wine that is mostly Cabernet, some Merlot and a little Sirah).
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class (usually six) and complement them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.
MUSIC – Bryne Donaldson and his sax won’t be back until Saturday, July, 17th. The 4th of July is coming so we won’t be doing a wine class on the 2nd nor listening to Bryne on his regularly scheduled day, the 3rd. And he has another gig on the 10th. Please visit his web site at http://www.brynedonaldson.com/index.htm
THANKS – Ron brought some good wines to the wine class last Friday. The OZV Zin and the Predator Zin were both winners even though quite different. Thanks to all of you that showed up. And the recently repaired A/C worked like a champ. Of course our apologies to those that didn’t get in to the wine class. Show up early is still the best advise.
OTHER – We have the latest, Summer 2010, issue of Arizona Vines and Wines. There is lots of great information about the state’s wineries and tours. And it is free!
We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.
You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
Have fun,
Liza and Bob
