Hi all,

We’re going to start this newsletter with a great big THANK YOU. Linda raised a lot of money yesterday for her Santa’s Secret Shoppers so there is going to be many young women from a local shelter having a much nicer Christmas this year. So “Thank you” to everyone that came by for the 50s Night and played the games and participated in the fun. And a special “Thank you” to Ron Feczko from Republic National and Scott Callahan from Trinchero Family Winery for providing many of the gifts.

We’re going to do it again on September 25th when Kelly McDowell and Alliance Beverage will sponsor a 60s Night. So you can come then and get in on the FUN and help a very worthy cause.

As long as we are on the worthy cause band wagon, we’re also participating the “TASTE of the NFL” again this year. If you remember from last year we were able to raise enough money by selling some great wines at some great prices to fund over 500 meals at the Saint Mary’s Food Bank. We’re kicking off another campaign at the Friday Night Wine Class on September 17th. Everybody wins when you get a deal on the wine and the Food Bank gets some money for their meals. And it helps Cave Creek Wines when we sell some wine too.

WINE TASTING – In observance of Labor Day there will be no wine class this Friday, September 3rd.

MUSIC – Bryne Donaldson and his sax will next be back on Saturday, September 11h, at 7 PM. (The ordinary first Saturday of the month happens to be on Labor Day weekend.) Remember there is no cover and no minimum. Please visit his web site at www.brynedonaldson.com.

OTHER – You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.

We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

NEW STUFF – There is a coupon on our web site, www.cavecreekwines.com. It is the first button at the top of the home page. You can make a copy and bring it in to the shop to get a deal when you buy some wine.

And with the start of school we are beginning a Teacher Appreciation Happy Hour(s). Show us your school ID and get a glass of wine for $5, Tuesday thru Thursday from 2 PM to 6 PM. And this actually does include Tony P.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,

Don’t forget that sometimes you may miss some good stuff that might be at the end. And then again it might be the same good stuff from last week.

WINE TASTING – This Friday, August 27th, we’ll be doing a FUN Wine Class. Toby, from Action Wines, will present a Spanish Cava (that is kind of like Champagne and is from Castillo Perelada), the Beckmen Sauvignon Blanc, the Schug Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, the Elizabeth Rose Pinot Noir, the Havens Napa Merlot and finish with the Ballentine Petite Sirah.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class (usually six) and complement them with the best food at any wine class in the state. Even in these times we are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.

Remember to get excited! We’re going to have a 50s night this Saturday, August 28th starting at 6 PM. The plan is to have some fun by dressing up in 1950s regalia and playing some trivia about that decade. We’ll play some games from TV shows of that era and raise some money for Linda’s Santa’s Secret Shopper. We’ve got a rep from the Trinchero Winery that will be bringing some stuff from the winery. She is raffling a leather jacket that is beautiful. For those of you that don’t know, Linda takes a group of young women (as in girls) from a local shelter Christmas shopping every year. These young women really need a little help and Linda and her volunteers do a great service. Be there or be square!

THANKS – Everyone seemed to enjoy the Blind Tasting and, judging by the sales, enjoyed the wine too. Thanks to Janice for handling the affairs. And thanks to all of you that showed up.

OTHER – We have one wine storage locker available to rent by the month or by the year.

You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.

Hi all,

There are some disadvantages to using the same format for this newsletter every week. One of them is that you only read the parts that you think are new. And you are generally right. But sometimes you may miss some good stuff that might be at the end. Like this week. That was a hint.

WINE TASTING – I can’t tell you the wines we are going to taste this Friday because we are going to do a “Blind Tasting”. Janice, from Young’s Market, is going to do the presentation and the wines are excellent. But you’ll have to think about what you are tasting and the person that does the best will win the right to buy a 1.5 liter bottle for a quarter (remember this is Arizona and we have to abide by the law).

Linda chastised me for the lack of excitement in the announcement of her event. So get excited! We’re going to have a 50s night on Saturday, August 28th.

THANKS – Arizona Night was a big hit! The Charron Vineyards Syrah was the big winner but I think everyone got to see that even the smaller wineries are making some good stuff. Thanks to Jim for making it interesting and thanks to everyone that showed up.

YES, THIS IS THE NEW STUFF – In the next few days there will be a coupon on our web site, www.cavecreekwines.com. You can make a copy and bring it in to the shop to get a deal when you buy some wine.

And with the start of school we are beginning a Teacher Appreciation Happy Hour(s). Show us your school ID and get a glass of wine for $5, Monday thru Thursday from 2PM to 6PM. Tony P excepted.

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone for their birthday cards and wishes. I honestly don’t understand why someone would celebrate a birthday at this age but I do appreciate the kind thoughts.

WINE TASTING – We’ll be doing an Arizona wine tasting this Friday, August 13th. Jim Wiskerchen, who represents some of the smaller local wineries, will be telling us about the Canelo Hills Gewurztraminer and their Chardonnay, a pair of Syrahs from Charron Vineyards and Colibri, the Malbec from Kief-Joshua and the 2005 Cabernet from Rancho Rossa. This will be your chance to taste some of the local wineries that don’t get as much exposure.

Mark your calendars! We’re going to have a 50s night on August 28th. The plan is to have some fun and raise some money for Linda’s Santa’s Secret Shopper. She is raffling a leather jacket and will be playing some trivia games. For those of you that don’t know, Linda takes a group of young women (as in girls) from a local shelter Christmas shopping every year. These young women really need a little help and Linda and her volunteers do a great service. If you would like to spend an evening in December as a chaperon please let us know and we’ll pass the word to Linda.

THANKS – Obviously Zins are pretty popular! Thanks to Ron for presenting some great Zins at some affordable prices. Not often do we sell out of everything. Thanks to everyone that attended and our apologies to those that didn’t get in.

Thanks to Bryne for another wonderful night of music last night. And thanks to Sal for sitting in on a few tunes. It was great to listen to them play together.

OTHER – We have one wine storage locker available to rent by the month or by the year.

We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.

You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.
