Hi all,
In observance of Good Friday there will be no wine class this Friday, April 2. And we will be closing early on April 10th.
WINE CLASS – On Friday, April 9th, we’ll be having round 3 of the Wine Challenge. This time it will be all Zinfandels!
MUSIC – Lots of great music coming in April! Bryne Donaldson and his sax will be playing here on Saturday, the 3rd. And then on Saturday, the 17th Root Down is back. As a quartet their jazzy style is always a crowd pleaser. We hope you can make both performances. Remember there are no cover and no minimum drink purchase.
THANKS – Lena always has some great wines and her Rieslings were just that. Thanks to her for the wines and the educational class and thanks to all of you that showed up.
And thanks to everyone that came to Psychic Night. We had a lot of fun and raised some money for Linda’s charity, Santa’s Secret Shoppers. We’ll be doing it again.
COMING SOON – Lena has offered to conduct a “Noble Tasting” in our shop. We will be tasting Rieslings from 1998 to 2004, Auslese, Beernauslese and Eiswein, that range in price from $40 to over $600 per bottle. Wine Spectator has rated one of them at 96 pts and another at 95 pts. And only one bottle is a 750 ml, most are 375 ml. To make it work we will need 10 folks that want to try a collection of wines like you will never try again. The cost will be $75 per person. We’ll have a list of wines at the bar and will decide on a date later.
Kief-Joshua Vineyards is having a festival down in Sonoita on May 1 & 2. We have a few complimentary tickets. Let us know if you are interested in attending.
OTHER – We have the brand new Spring 2010 issue of Arizona Vines and Wines. There is lots of great information about the state’s wineries and tours. And it is free!
We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.
You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,
Psychic Night is going to happen this Wednesday, the 24th. Come in for some fun and help Linda raise some money for Santa’s Secret Shoppers. See below for more information.
WINE TASTING – Lena has gotten her new shipment of Rieslings from Germany (they arrived on the 8th) so we are going to get to taste them this Friday, the 26th. She’s calling this the “90, 93 & 94 Tasting” as those are the Wine Spectator scores for the last three wines. And the first three are great too. There are going to be a couple of wines of Qba classification, then a couple of Kabinett classification and then a couple of Old Vine Rieslings. The last two are a Spatlese and an Auslese. Come early to ensure that you can get a seat!
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class (usually six) and complement them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.
NEW WINES – The owner of Thomas George Estates was in the shop at the beginning of the week and we tasted some of their wines. I have a new “Best White Wine in the World” and it is their Viognier. We’ll have it available for tasting during the week so you can see what I mean. We also brought in their Russian River Pinot Noir which is as representative of that place and that varietal as it gets.
THANKS – Everyone appreciated the reprieve from having to listen to Bob deliver the joke last week even though Rick did one in the same style. Thanks to him and thanks to Kelly for tasting us on some excellent wines. The Cuvee A seemed to be the favorite. And thanks to all of you that came to her wine class.
COMING SOON – Psychic Night coming this Wednesday, the 24th of March at 6 PM. Jamie Clark from TV’s “America’s Psychic Challenge” is planning to attend. He told me that he sees a 10% discount on some hand selected “Psychic” wines.
Kief-Joshua Vineyards is having a festival down in Sonoita on May 1 & 2. We have a few complimentary tickets. Let us know if you are interested in attending.
COMMENTARY II – Even though we are a little player in the great big “wine” business, I don’t want this to sound like I’m “whining”, but there is a company called Sum Wine, or something like that, that uses some misleading (I’m trying to be politically corrected because the word I want to use is offensive) in their advertisements. “The lowest prices anywhere” doesn’t mean what you think. When you compare the same wines, our prices are lower (in the conventional use of the word) than theirs. Their prices may be low on some brands that you have never seen before and will never see at any other wine shop. I wonder how that happens? Okay, I’m done!

Hi all,
Psychic Night is going to happen on the 24th of March. Come in for some fun and help Linda raise some money for Santa’s Secret Shoppers.
WINE TASTING – Kelly is back! As one of the winners of the Wine Challenge, she is going to have the stage all to herself this Friday, March 19th. She’s called her presentation “Blend and Balanced”. We’ll be tasting the Anne Aime Amrita, the Robert Hall Sauvignon Blanc, Fuse, the Long Meadow Ranch House Red and the Bogle Phantom.
Just one more week until Lena shows us her new shipment of Rieslings. She was in Germany for most of January tasting the new vintages and the best are now on a boat headed this way. Mark your calendars for March 26th and plan to show up early as she always draws a full house.
MUSIC – On the 17th of April Root Down is back. As a quartet their jazzy style is always a crowd pleaser. We hope to see you then. Remember there are no cover and no minimum drink purchase.
NEW WINES – For you Zin lovers we are now stocking the Medusa Hoodoo Creek Zin. It is great! Have you tried the Silver Palm Cabernet? It is really good and reasonably priced.
THANKS – We certainly appreciated Kelly, Jeff and Ron participating in the Wine Challenge last Friday and thanks to all of you that attended the class. Jeff’s Monkey Business Zin and Kelly’s Rodney Strong Cabernet were the favorites!
COMING SOON – Psychic Night coming on Wednesday, the 24th of March at 6 PM. Jamie Clark from TV’s “America’s Psychic Challenge” is planning to attend.

This Friday, March 12th, the combatants will be Kelly from Alliance Beverage, Jeff from Valley of the Sun Fine Wines and Ron from Republic National. The Zins will be from Monkey Business, Joel Gott and Rodney Strong while the Cabs will be from Piattelli, Amavi and Rodney Strong again.
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. MUSIC – Bryne Donaldson was great! He had a busy day playing at El Pedregal twice and then here. He can really do wonders with his saxophone.
On the 17th of April Root Down is back. As a quartet their jazzy style is always a crowd pleaser. We hope to see you then. Remember there are no cover and no minimum drink purchase.
NEW WINES – We have the Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot, for which they are famous, more than a “Fistful of Dollars” less than our neighborhood big box store. Speaking of values, we also have an Italian Sangiovese, the grape in Chianti, that is great at $13.99 and a California Claret, a Cabernet based blend, at $12.99.
THANKS – We certainly appreciated Mark Hilbert presenting the wines last Friday and thanks to all of you that attended the class. And thanks to everyone that came in to listen to Bryne too.
COMING SOON – Things are starting clear up in my crystal ball and I see a Psychic Night coming soon. It will be on a Wednesday, the 24th of March. Is that Jamie Clark from TV’s “America’s Psychic Challenge” I see? More info will be available when the fog lifts some more.

Hi all,
WINE TASTING – We’ve tasted the wines from the St. Francis Winery a couple of different times and they were great when we visited them a couple of years ago. So we’re going to try them again this Friday, February 26th. The wines will be the Chardonnay, the Sonoma Red, the Merlot, the Old Vine Zinfandel, the Claret and the Cabernet Sauvignon. Ron Feczko from Republic National will be doing the presentation.
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. And then on the 20th of March Root Down is back. As a quartet their jazzy style is always a crowd pleaser. We hope to see you at both musical events. Remember there are no cover and no minimum drink purchase.
THANKS – A couple of weeks ago we received a certificate for providing 510 meals to the homeless at St Mary’s Food Bank during our Taste of the NFL promotion that ran throughout the fall. Thank you for buying the wines that lead to this great support to a very worthy cause.
And thanks to Chris from Rancho Rossa and to Patty from Dos Cabezas for tasting us on the Arizona wines on Friday! And of course thanks to all of you that showed up.
COMING SOON – As I peer into my crystal ball I see a Psychic Night coming soon. It will be on a Wednesday night in March. More info will be available when the fog lifts.
