Happy New Year,
WINE TASTING – Since this coming Friday is New Years Day and I’ll be watching football and sipping a favorite beverage, we won’t be having a wine class. And the shop will be closed too. January 8, 2010 will be the next class and Ron Feczko of Republic National will be presenting the Napa Cellars wines. Please have a wonderful time over the holiday and we hope to see you soon.
THANKS – Thanks to everyone for the cards and gifts. Since I’m so busy (or some folks call it lazy) we won’t be thanking each of you individually but we do want you to know that your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
MUSIC – Sax man Bryne Donaldson will be back on the second Saturday in January, the 9th. Note that the 9th isn’t the usual first Saturday for live music. We hope to see you then.
COMMENTARY – None this week. I had my say and we hope you check it out for yourselves.
OTHER – We have the newest edition, Winter 2009, of Arizona Vines and Wines. It has a bunch of information about the wineries in the state, including maps and tour info. And it is free!
We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.
You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Happy Holidays,
WINE TASTING – Since this coming Friday is Christmas Day, we won’t be having a wine class. Nor we will be having one on New Year’s Day. Have a wonderful time over the holidays and we hope to see you soon. Rumor has it that Santa is going to be pretty busy on Christmas Day so he is going to stop in at the shop on Tuesday.
COMMENTARY – Owning any neighborhood business has its challenges. And most of them are just part of the deal. But there is a liquor store that is misrepresenting the facts. (That is my effort to be politically correct with it being the season and all.) Their tag line is “The lowest prices anywhere.” Please don’t take their word for it. Based on an unofficial survey by some customer, on the wines that we both stock, our prices are usually lower.
NEW WINES – Frank Family Cabernet is back in stock! And a perfect gift for the holidays is a wine called Lady in Red. Besides being a great red blend from Washington State, the label is a lady dressed in a red Santa outfit.
THANKS – Thanks to everyone that came to the wine class and tastings. And thanks to the distributor reps, Kelly, Jeff and Paul for their time and knowledge.
RIESLING – We always carry a nice selection of Rieslings, mostly from Germany. These are great wines for the Holidays.
MUSIC – Sax man Bryne Donaldson will be back on the second Saturday in January, the 9th. Note that the 9th isn’t the usual first Saturday for live music. We hope to see you there.
OTHER – We received a Christmas message from Don (the guy with the walker that sits by the wine lockers on Friday nights) and he is still is the hospital but doing well. You can call him at: 480-994-1333, ext. 2241 (room phone) or 602-370-5367 (cell phone).

Hi all,
WINE TASTING – Kelly McDowell of Alliance Beverage is going to be the presenter this Friday, December 18th. And to continue the “Great Wines” theme that we have been doing the last few weeks the line looks like this… Hess Sauvignon Blanc, Rosemount Hunter Valley Chardonnay, Meiomi Belle Glos Pinot Noir, Rodney Strong Knotty Vines Zinfandel, Sbragia Dry Creek Zinfandel and Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet. It should be fun! This will be the last wine class of the year.
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class (usually six) and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.
On Wednesday, December 16th, Jeff from Valley of the Sun Distributing will be in the shop to pour and talk about the Tangent Albarino and Carmel Road Pinot Noir. The latter is available in 750 and 375 ml bottles. He will start about 5 PM.
Then on Saturday, December 19th, Paul from Young’s Market will be doing a tasting of 3 different Schramsberg Sparkling wines. You can try them for free starting about 6 PM and order for a Tuesday pick up. Stock up for the holidays!
NEW WINES – Frank Family Cabernet is back in stock! And a perfect gift for the holidays is a wine called Lady in Red. Besides being a great red blend from Washington State, the label is a lady dressed in a red Santa outfit.
ITALIAN DINNER & RAFFLE – Linda raised over $700 this past week at her dinner and raffle. She won’t be taking the girls out for a week or more so if you couldn’t make it to the fund raiser, you can still make a donation at the wine shop. Next time you see her please thank her for doing such a wonderful thing to help out some less fortunate folks.
THANKS – Thanks to everyone at the wine class. And thanks to Janice for a wonderful presentation and for the prizes too.
We hope to see you then.
OTHER – We’re going to continue to continue to participate in the program called Taste of the NFL through the end of the year (maybe through the Super Bowl). Come and pick up one or more of the featured wines and you can help out too. 2-1/2 meals will be served at St Mary’s Food Bank for each bottle sold.
There is a local guy that takes our empty wine bottles and turns them into recycled wine bottle glasses. They look great, are now dishwasher safe and help the environment. We have them for sale in sets of four, with or without our logo, for $20.
We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.
Help us save a tree! We have wine bags for sale at $2.50 that will hold up to 6 bottles of wine. When you use it for two bottles or more we will give you a 25¢ discount.
You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.
