Hi all,

WINE TASTING – We’re got a Cave Creek Wines virgin this week. Jeff Howell from Valley of the Sun Fine Wines will tell us about the Tangent Albarino, then a Sauvignon Blanc that I forgot to write down, then a French Pinot Noir called Turtle Creek (and that isn’t a typo), then a Monterey Pinot Noir from Carmel Road, then a red blend from Piattelli called Trinita before finishing with the Kinton Syrah.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class (usually six) and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. Even though it hasn’t been an issue lately we are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.

WINE DINNER – We haven’t had a wine dinner in a long time but the wait is over. On Saturday, October 24th starting at 6:30 PM Chef Stuart Epstein will prepare a four course dinner and cooking demo. The menu is Prosciutto Wrapped Scampi, Fresh Pasta Primavera, Panko Crusted Grilled Chicken Medallions and Tiramisu. The first three courses will be pared with some excellent, yet to be determined, wines. Reserve your place for $50.

MUSIC – Sax man Bryne Donaldson will play this Saturday, October, 3rd. Plan to come and listen to some wonderful music and have a good time.

THANKS – Ron from Republic National did an excellent presentation at last Friday’s wine class. Thanks to him and thanks to you that came by.

We’re going to continue to participate in the program called Taste of the NFL through the end of the year. Come and pick up one or more of those featured wines and you can help out too. 2-1/2 meals will be served at St Mary’s Food Bank for each bottle sold.

There is a local guy that takes our empty wine bottles and turns them into recycled wine bottle glasses. They look great, are now dishwasher safe and help the environment. We have them for sale in sets of four, with or without our logo, for $20.

We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.

You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices. Of course the selection is always changing.

We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,

WINE TASTING – We’re going to do a “mini” Compare & Contrast at the Wine Class this Friday, September 25. Ron Feczko will present Benziger Sauvignon Blanc, BearBoat Pinot Noir, Benziger Merlot, St Francis Merlot, Benziger Cabernet Sauvignon and St Francis Cabernet Sauvignon. We’ve tried most of these wines before but not side by side so this should be different and fun.

WAR – We won the war! Italy and Spain are gone (or at least the wines from Italy and Spain) and some folks got some great wines at some heavily discounted prices. Soon the Zinfandel “island” will be relocated and some more seating will appear in its place.

MUSIC – Sax man Bryne Donaldson will be back on the first Saturday of October, the 3rd. Plan to come and listen to some wonderful music and have a good time.

THANKS – Janice showed us some wonderful wines from Crew last Friday. Thanks to her for doing the presentation and thanks to you that came by.

Linda raised over $400 on Wednesday for her Santa’s Secret Shoppers (a charity for children’s shelter). Thanks to everyone that helped out.

We’re going to continue to participate in the program called Taste of the NFL through the end of the year. Come and pick up one or more of those featured wines and you can help out too. 2-1/2 meals will be served at St Mary’s Food Bank for each bottle sold.

OTHER – We have some free tickets for the Home & Landscape Show at the Arizona State Fairgrounds on September 25, 26 & 27. Each ticket will admit 2 to the show.

There is a local guy that takes our empty wine bottles and turns them into recycled wine bottle glasses. They look great, are now dishwasher safe and help the environment. We have them for sale in sets of four, with or without our logo, for $20.

Hi all,

Lots of new information in this newsletter!

WINE TASTING – Janice Grewe from Young’s Market Company will be presenting the class this Friday, September 18th. The lineup looks like this: Chasing Venus Sauvignon Blanc, Match Book Chardonnay, Moosback Pinot Noir, Match Book Syrah, Match Book Tinto Rey (a Syrah/Tempranillo/ Malbec blend) and Sawbuck Cabernet Sauvignon. These are mostly wines we have carried because they are so good and they are reasonably priced too!

We are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.

WAR – We’re declaring war on Italy and Spain! Actually we’re going to create some more seating space and reduce our inventory by eliminating the rack where those wines are located. To do that we are having a sale starting at 6 PM on Tuesday, Sep 15th. Every wine on the Italian/Spanish rack is going to be $5 off the retail price. And then at 6 PM on Wednesday they will be $6 off. On Thursday they will be $7 off if there is anything left. With that pricing we won’t be offering the 10% discount on 6 bottles or more and the sale will not be continued on Friday.

MUSIC – Sax man Bryne Donaldson will be back on the first Saturday of October, the 3rd. Plan to come and listen to some wonderful music and have a good time.

THANKS – Jevin and Kelly from Gallo and Alliance, respectively, presented some great wines at equally great prices on Friday. And 2-1/2 meals will be served at St Mary’s Food Bank for each bottle sold. We’re going to continue to participate in the program called Taste of the NFL through the end of the year. Come and pick up one or more of those featured wines and you can help out too.

OTHER – Linda and her Secret Santa’s Shoppers (a charity for children’s shelter) is going to have a fundraiser on Wednesday, September 16th starting at 6:30 PM. It is going to be called “Wine on Wed” and will be a blind tasting. The WINE is FREE but you must have a little class and Donate for your Glass!!! There will be prizes, raffles, trivia and of course munchies.

We have some free tickets for the Home & Landscape Show at the Arizona State Fairgrounds on September 25, 26 & 27. Each ticket will admit 2 to the show.

Hi all,

We hope everyone is having (if you are reading this on Sunday or Monday) or had (if you are reading this on Tuesday) a wonderful Labor Day.

WINE TASTING – Usually we have a fun wine class on Friday nights and often during the week we have some kind of charity fund raising event. This week we are going to combine them on Friday. This Friday, September 11th, we will join partners with Alliance beverage and the National Football League to kickoff “Taste of the NFL”.

We will taste and Kelly will tell us about Mirassou Sun Pinot Grigio, then their Sauvignon Blanc, then Ecco Domani Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio blend and their Chianti, then the Bridlewood Syrah and finish up with the Louis Martini Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. A significant portion of the proceeds get donated to local food banks so we can help feed people in our community.

We are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.

The Zahtila Vineyards wines have been delivered and the discounted prices will be honored. We got a few extras if you didn’t place an order and would like to get some of these great wines.

MUSIC – Sax man Bryne Donaldson played last night and got everyone on their feet. It was a lot of fun and some fantastic music. He’ll be back on the first Saturday of October, the 3rd. Plan to come and listen to some wonderful music and have a good time.

OTHER – Linda and her Secret Santa’s Shoppers (a charity for children’s shelter) is going to have a fundraiser on Wednesday, September 16th.
