Hi all,

WINE TASTING – We’re be back on schedule with Mona Riedel from Southern Wines presenting the wine class this Friday, the 29th, when she tells us about the Dry Creek Fume Blanc, the Columbia Crest Two Vines Tan (a Semillon – Chardonnay blend), the King Estate Pinot Noir, a Cab called 337 from Lodi and then finish with the Barbera and Cab from Jacuzzi.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.

WINE – Sam Pillsbury’s “One Night Stand” Rose and “Casa Blanca” Pinot Gris have arrived! We tasted barrel samples of these wines a few weeks back and they were great. Now they’re in the bottle and available at $19.99/each.

MUSIC – Bryne Donaldson and his sax will be here next on Saturday, June 6th and then again on July 11th, which isn’t the first Saturday of the month but you can see why. The music will start at 7 PM. We hope to see you then.

OTHER – Linda is starting to raise money for her Santa’s Secret Shoppers where she helps some kids at a local shelter at Christmas. To help her we’ll be having a little two wine, blind tasting and watching the movie Bottle Shock at 6:30 PM on Thursday, May 28th. The cost is only $10 and Action Wines is helping out with the wines. Movies, munchies and a raffle are included.

There is an Arizona Wine Club. Visit www.azvinowineclub.com to join. You can get three Arizona wines shipped to you or you can pick them up at our shop three times a year.

We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.

You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices.

We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,

WINE TASTING – No wine class this week with the Memorial Day holiday and everyone getting out of town. For those of us that are still going to be here we will have a “Participation Tasting”. I just made that term up but what we’re doing is that everyone that wants to be included will buy a bottle of wine. We’ll put them on the bar and everyone can pour a taste of each. Surprise, surprise things will kick off at 6:00 PM.

We’ll be back on schedule with Mona Riedel from Southern Wines on the 29th when she tells us about the Dry Creek Fume Blanc, the Columbia Crest Two Vines Tan (a Semillon – Chardonnay blend), the King Estate Pinot Noir, a Cab called 337 from Lodi and then finish with the Barbera and Cab from Jacuzzi.

THANKS AND OTHER THINGS – Our condolences go out to Ryan and his family for their loss. And our thanks to you that came by and filled up the wine class.

WINE TRIP – It is time to know if you are interested in going to Lodi with us. I had originally said that a $500 deposit was due on the 22nd of May. I have to move that up a day to the 21st (that is this Thursday) so I can pay our deposits on the 22nd. We are accepting the deposits of $500 by check or cash. The dates for the trip are August 14th thru 17th.

OTHER – Linda is starting to raise money for her Santa’s Secret Shoppers where she helps some kids at a local shelter at Christmas. To help her we’ll be having a blind tasting and watching the movie Bottle Shock at 6:30 PM on Thursday, May 28th. The cost is only $10 and Action Wines is helping out with the wines. Movies, munchies and a raffle are included.

The not so new now issue of Arizona Vines & Wines is out and it is full of information about the vineyards and the wineries throughout Arizona. It is better than ever and available for free by the checkout area. Rumor has it that there is going to be an article in the next issue by an old, short, fat, bald guy.

Hi all,

WINE TASTING – After last week’s newsletter I realize that when I tell you that we are going to Italy for the wine class this week, my creditability is zero. But I’m going to do it anyway. I’ve checked and double checked with Ryan from Alliance Beverage and he has reassured me that we’ll be tasting the Amano Wines from Italy. We’ll start with their Pinot Grigio, try the California Concannon Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, and then back to Italy to taste the Amano Chianti and Primitivo before finishing with their Moscato. These are all great wines that have received good scores and are very reasonably priced.

Our apologies to those that didn’t get in last Friday as we are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.

MUSIC – Bryne Donaldson and his sax will be here next on Saturday, June 6th. The music will start at 7 PM. We hope to see you then.

THANKS – We were honestly worried that you may not get excited about Spanish wines but we were glad to be wrong. The wines were great and Ron did a great job of telling us about them in English as yo no hablo español. Thanks to him and thanks to all of you that showed up.

WINE TRIP – It is time to know if you are interested in going to Lodi with us. It looks like my guess of a few weeks ago of $920 is going to be accurate after all. We are accepting deposits of $500 by check or cash and will need them by the 22nd of May. Remember from last year that the credit card company thought we were travel agents instead of a wine bar, so we can’t use credit cards. The dates are August 14th thru 17th. The list of wineries is coming but for now we will be in Lodi on the Friday, Saturday and Monday with Amador on Sunday. Let me know if there are any wineries that you are familiar with so I can include them.

We’ll be having a blind tasting and watch the movie Bottle Shock at 6:30 PM on May 28th. The cost is only $10 and Action Wines is helping out with the wines. Hi all,

WINE TASTING – The wine class this Friday, May 8th, is going to be a trip to Spain. The wines look like this: Poema Cava Extra Dry, Torres Vina Esmeralda, Torres Sanger de Toro, Rioja Vega Joven, Panarroz and Torres Salmos Priorat. The last wine may be the best European wine you have ever tasted. And Ron Feczko from Republic National is going to be the presenter.

We haven’t had any seating problems lately but we are limiting attendance to the first 45 people.

MUSIC – Bryne Donaldson and his sax rocked the house last night. Thanks to him for playing and to all of you that supported him. His next gig here will be Saturday, June 6th. The music will start at 7 PM. We hope to see you then.

THANKS – Every time I do a wine class Liza is worried that no one will show up. Thanks to everyone that proved her wrong. We do appreciate the support.

Justin Winery in Paso Robles makes some really great wines like the Isosceles. And they make a very affordable blend called the Orphan. We just got our allocation in for this year. Two whole cases.
