Hi all,

WINE TASTING – Tom Garrett is a Cave Creek Wines virgin so be nice when his does his first class this Friday, April 3rd. We haven’t gone to Italy in a while so this Friday we’ll be learning about Italian wines. The line up will be Adami Prosecco (as in bubbly), Alois Lageder Pinot Bianco, Poggiotondo Chianti Superiore, Bosco Montepulciano D’ Abruzzo “r” and Valpolicella Riposso ‘Monte Garbi”.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting the class size to 45 people.

Remember that if you want to reserve yourself a place in the class you can do so by purchasing a ticket for $20 any time during the week.

MUSIC – On Saturday, April 4th, Bryne Donaldson and his sax will be here to play some great jazz. He always gets the house rocking so come enjoy the music and a good time. The music starts at 7 PM so he can play to 9:30.

THANKS – Ryan and Tom deserve a round of applause. The wine class was a lot of fun and thanks to everyone that came by. That was the first full house we’ve had in a few weeks.

WINE TRIP – We are going to Lodi on August 14 thru 17. Lodi is best known for some great ancient vine Zins but have a bunch of other great wines at reasonable prices too. I don’t have the end price for the trip which will include airfare, hotel, transportation, breakfasts and lunches but it looks like this will be the most affordable trip yet. My guess is around $800. We’ll be flying out early in the morning on Friday, the 14th, and returning late in the day on Monday, the 17th. There’s a concert on Saturday night and lots of great wines to taste along the way. Please let me know if you are interested so we can make some plans. We’re not looking for a deposit yet, just an interest.

OTHER – Heather Visca is going to do another Fine Wines and Facials on Wednesday, April 22nd at 6 PM. How about a complimentary facial and makeover? It costs you $10 for the tasting and you get a $10 Mary Kay gift certificate. Reserve a spot by calling her at 602 677-9535.

The new issue of Arizona Vines & Wines is out and it is full of information about the vineyards and the wineries throughout Arizona. It is better than ever and available for free by the checkout area.

Canelo Hills Vineyard and Winery is having a Wine and Farm Festival! It is going to be held from 11 AM to 4 PM on April 18th at their winery on Elgin road in Elgin, Arizona. More info is available at www.canelohillswinery.com.

Tom Garrett has set up a couple of “Wine Cruises” for us. These are 12 night and 11 night cruises at the end of September and the beginning of October for around $1,000. We have a brochure by the cash register with the details.

There is a local guy that takes our empty wine bottles and turns them into recycled wine bottle glasses. They look great, are now dishwasher safe and help the environment. We have them for sale in sets of four, with or without our logo, for $20.

There is an Arizona Wine Club. Visit www.azvinowineclub.com to join. You can get three Arizona wines shipped to you or you can pick them up at our shop three times a year.

We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.

You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices.

We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

All the wine lockers are rented.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,

WINE TASTING – Ryan McKenzie of Alliance Beverage isn’t a presentation virgin any more and surprisingly he agreed to do another wine class. Of course he wants to bring in reinforcements but at least he is going to show up. He is going to show us some Hess and some Buehler wines. We’ve always enjoyed the Hess Select Chardonnay and the Hess Cabernet and to that we’ll add some great wines from Buehler Vineyards. Their Zin got 90 points from Wine Spectator.

Hi all,

WINE TASTING – Mark Stern is a local wine guy that loves wine and loves telling people about it. He is going to do his first wine class this Friday, March 6th. We’re hoping to work him in to doing a regular wine class. This Friday the white wine is a Vinho Verde from Portugal. Then he’ll show us a pair of Pinot Noirs, one from Chateau Bianca and the other from Wetzel. The “real” reds will be the Marchetti Rosso Conero from Italy, the Kief Joshua Cab from Sonoita and the Tim Adams “The Fergus” from Australia.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. THANKS – We appreciate those of you that fought the road construction mess on Cave Creek Road to attend the wine class. The paving is supposed to be done on Tuesday morning so things should be back to normal for the Tuesday night get together and of course by the wine class.

NEW WINES – We have a few nice vintage ports (10 and 20 years old) from Portugal.
