Hi all,
WINE TASTING – Devine is back! He’ll be showing us some really great wines this Friday, December 5th. We’ll be tasting the Kim Crawford Unoaked Chardonnay, Camus Conundrum (bet you didn’t expect to see that in a tasting), the Belle Glos Meiomi Pinot Noir (another great one), the Valley of the Moon Syrah, the Jack London Zinfandel (have to keep the zinophiles happy) and finish with the Hess Cabernet Sauvignon. Excellent wines all!
Got a very mixed reaction to the pricing change we announced last week. For most of you that show up early for the wine class, the price is still $10. For you that can’t show up so early, you can reserve your place by buying a ticket for $20 on the days before the wine class. We will have 45 tickets available each week and if you have a ticket you are guaranteed a place, even if you show up at 5 or 10 minutes before 6 PM.
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. All the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state.
MUSIC – New hours! On Saturday, December 6th, there is going be another great night of live jazz. Bryne Donaldson will be here with his sax. Remember there is no cover and no minimum. Just come in and listen to a really talented musician play some really great music. We are changing the start times on those Saturdays with music to 7 PM so they can play to 9:30.
On the 20th of December Bob & Dwight will be playing some more jazz for us and they are recording their sessions. Mark your calendar!
THANKS – We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and thanks to you that stopped by. We certainly appreciate your patronage!
OTHER – There is going to be a wine maker’s dinner at Skye on February 12th. Chef Scott Tompkins is doing the food and Kenneth Schilling is doing the wines. It is $120 a couple and starts at 6:30. We have a flyer by the cash register.
We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.
The wine totes are here. And they are great! They have individual pouches for up to six bottles and we’re selling them at cost, $2.50 each, to encourage you to get one. Then each time you buy 2 or more bottles and use your tote, we will give you 25 cents off your purchase. That will save a few trees along the way. Please participate.
We’re giving away a bicycle! The basic idea is that when you buy a couple of bottles of the very reasonably priced Bohemian Highway wines, you get entered in a drawing. They have a Pinot Grigio, a Sauvignon Blanc, a Chardonnay, a Merlot and a Cabernet Sauvignon for less than eight dollars each. Just before Christmas (yes Matilda there is going to be a Christmas this year) on the 19th of December we will have the drawing and someone will win the bike. It is the kind you pedal, a “cruiser”, and not the kind your favorite lawyer rides. And a portion of the proceeds are being donated to Linda’s Secret Santa Shopping Spree.
You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,
WINE TASTING – We’re going to Australia! Carl from Awesome Wines is going to be here this Friday, November 14th, to show us some spectacular wines. From Triplepoint we’ll try their SB (Sauvignon Blanc), Chardonnay (unlike any you have had) and a Shiraz-Sangiovese blend. Then we’ll taste three wines from the Pretty Sally Estate. They are the Cab, the Cab-Shiraz and the Shiraz. They are stunning!
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting the class size to 45 and our apologies to those we had to turn away last Friday.
MUSIC – New hours! On Saturday, November 15th, there is going be another great night of live jazz. Bob Ravenscroft on piano and Dwight Kilian on stand up bass are going to play. Remember there is no cover and no minimum. Just come in and listen to some really talented musicians play some really great jazz. We are changing the start times on those Saturday’s with music to 7 PM so they can play to 9:30.
THANKS – We had a larger than usual crowd last Friday so thank you for your understanding. Again our apologies to those that didn’t get in. I think 5:15 was the earliest that we have ever had to say “No more room”.
OTHER – We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Starting today you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.
The wine totes are here! They are very colorful and very useful with 6 sleeves to hold that number of bottles. They sell for $2.50 and you get 25¢ each time you use it.

Hi all,
TUESDAY – Rumor has it that there is some kind of an important occasion on Tuesday. I checked with the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control and “election days are like any other day.” So as an Independent we invite both Democrats and Republicans to come in after they have voted and watch the results.
WINE TASTING – Ron Feczko from Republic National is going to present the wines this Friday, Nov 7th. And Chef Anthony (Craig Driml) is going to cater the food. We’re going take a short trip around California. We’ll try the Steele Chard Cuvee, their Writers Block Pinot Noir, then the St Francis Merlot, their Cab Sauv, and finish with the St. Francis Old Vine Zin and the 100 year old vine Steele Catfish Vineyard Zin. It should be great!
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. THANKS – We appreciate everyone that came in the hear Rootdown on Thursday and Bryne on Saturday. We hope you had a good time.
OTHER – We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Starting today you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.
The wine totes are coming (or so I have been told)!
We’re going to give away a bicycle! The basic idea is that when you buy a couple of bottles of the very reasonably priced Bohemian Highway wines, you get entered in a drawing. They have a Pinot Grigio, a Sauvignon Blanc, a Chardonnay, a Merlot and a Cabernet Sauvignon for less than nine dollars each. Just before Christmas (yes Matilda there is going to be a Christmas this year) on the 19th of December we will have the drawing and someone will win the bike. And it is the kind you pedal, not the kind your favorite lawyer rides.
