Hi all,
WINE TASTING – No wine class on the 31st. We’ll be here and looking forward to seeing you after the kids finish their thing.
MUSIC – Another great night of free jazz is coming! Actually two nights. On Thursday, October 30th at 6 PM until 8:30 PM Rootdown, as a jazz quartet with guitar, bass, piano and drums, will be playing. Then two nights later on November 1st Bryne Donaldson and his sax will play. Remember that there is no cover and no minimum. Just come in and listen to some really talented musicians play some really great jazz.
THANKS – Thanks to everyone that came by on Friday to listen to me. Thank you!
OTHER – The wine totes are coming!
Liza is having a Jewelry party is this afternoon from 3 PM to 5 PM. Buy $20 or more of Silpada jewelry and you can buy a glass of wine for 25¢. Hope to see you there!
We’re going to give away a bicycle! More details next week but the basic idea is that when you buy a couple of bottles of wine, you get entered in a drawing. Just before Christmas (yes Matilda there is going to be a Christmas this year) someone will win the bike. And it is the kind you pedal, not the kind your favorite lawyer rides.
The new vintage, 2004, Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is out. And we have it in stock! It is a little bit more expensive than the 2003 but it is tasting even better.
You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,
WINE TASTING – As is too often the case we are going to have a wine class this Friday, October 24th, but I’m not sure who is going to do it nor am I sure what wines we will be doing. More bad planning on my part.
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting the class size to 45 and our apologies to those we had to turn away last Friday.
No wine class on the 31st.

And thanks to all you that came by on Saturday to listen to Dwight and Bob. When they play next on November 15th they will be recording the session for a CD they plan to release later. Make your plans to attend and participate in a live recording.

Hi all,
WINE TASTING – This Friday, October 17th is my turn. Scott Greenwold from Southern Wines was scheduled to do the class but business got in the way. So we are going to try some of his wines but I’ll be making the presentation AND telling the jokes. It looks like we’ll be trying the Oak Knoll Oregon Pinot Gris, the Dry Creek Fume Blanc, the Esser Oregon Pinot Noir, the 14 Hands Merlot, a Rosenblum Zin and the Sebastiani Cabernet.
We are limiting the class size to 45, although it hasn’t been an issue lately.
MUSIC – Another great night of jazz is coming! Bob Ravenscroft, on the piano, and Dwight Kilian, on the standup bass, will be here on Saturday, October 18th at 6 PM until 8:30 PM. You will be impressed! Remember that there is no cover and no minimum. Just come in and listen to some really talented musicians play some really great jazz.
And Rootdown, as a jazz quartet with guitar, bass, piano and drums, will be playing on Thursday, the 30th. They’ll start at 6 PM and play to 8:30. They haven’t played at the shop in several months so be sure and stop by.
THANKS – Thanks to everyone that came by on Friday to listen to Tom talk about some wonderful wines. The Spellbound wines are great and priced right. Thank you!
OTHER – We’re going GREEN! We’ve ordered some wine totes and will be selling them at cost (with our logo on them so you won’t forget us). Then each time you use one on a purchase of two or more bottles we’ll deduct 25¢ from your bill. You won’t get rich but you’ll help the environment a little.
Liza is having a Jewelry party on October 26. Buy $20 or more in jewelry and you can buy a glass of wine for 25¢. Mark your calendars!

Hi all,
WINE TASTING – We are in for a real treat this Friday, October 10th. The wine maker (I think) for Spellbound Wines is going to be at the shop to show us their lineup which includes a Riesling, a Chardonnay, a Petite Sirah, a Zin and a Cab. To round things out we’ll try the Bogle Phantom what with Halloween coming up. For you that went to Sonoma on our last wine trip will recall what a great time we had at the winery and what great wines they have.
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. THANKS – Thanks to everyone that came by on Friday to listen to Craig talk about some wonderful wines, to everyone that came by on Saturday to listen to Bryne play some great sax and everyone that came by on Sunday to make Linda’s fund raiser such a success. She was able to raise enough money to take 4 young mothers Christmas shopping. Thank you, thank you and thank you again!

Hi all,
WINE TASTING – After great deliberation, which explains the lateness of this email, Craig Driml from Divine Wines is going to show us some of his favorite wines this Friday, October 3rd. We are going to start with a Cava from Barcelona, the Sauvignon Blanc from Graziano, then try a real favorite, Kilda Chardonnay. The reds will start with Australian Shiraz before a pair of cabs, one from Hans Fahden and the other from the Central Coast. Craig is always a hoot and the wines are great!
We are limiting the class size to 45.
MUSIC – Another great night of jazz is coming! Bryne Donaldson will be back with his sax on his regularly scheduled first Saturday of the month. That is October 4th. You will be impressed! Remember that there is no cover and no minimum. Just come in and listen to a really talented musician play some really great music with a jazzy bias from 6 PM until 8:30 PM.
OTHER – Then on Sunday October 5th we’ll have the Second Annual Wine Challenge. For every bottle of wine sold between 4 & 5 PM we will contribute a dollar to Linda’s Santa’s Secret Shoppers. She has been helping out a shelter for years and this is a good way to help her raise some money for a great cause. She has door prizes from Starbucks, Big O tires, The Chiropractic Group, Divine Wines, Republic National Wine Distribution Company and many, many more. There will be pizza and munchies. Hope to see you then!
THANKS – Thanks to everyone that came by on Friday to listen to Ron tell us about some really great South American wines and to everyone that came by on Sunday to make the fund raiser for the Arizona Breast Cancer 3 Day such a success. Thank you!
