Hi all,

Devin from Alliance Beverage is going to do his first presentation this Friday, May 30th. We’ll start with some bubbles from Gloria Ferrer, try the Hess Su’skol Vineyard Chardonnay (WS top 100 last year), go to Washington for the Sageland Merlot and then see that organic can mean great when we taste the Bonterra Syrah, Zin and Cabernet.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state.

How about FREE! We’re going to have a free wine tasting on Saturday, May 31st. Ron Fescko at Republic National Beverage is going to be in the shop with eight great wines from California, Italy and Spain at 5:30 until 7:30 that Saturday. These wines are all new and will be available for order after you find out what you like.

There is a little shake up on the music dates for next month. On the first Saturday in June, when Bryne Donaldson would ordinarily play his sax for us, he has a real gig with Jay Soto in Temecula at a Jazz Festival. So he will play on the 14th instead. Then, as I told you about last week, Bob Ravenscroft and Dwight Kilian will play on the 28th. You still get a chance to hear these great musicians twice in June but it will just be on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays rather than the 1st and the 3rd.

The 3rd Annual Cave Creek Wines Wine Trip is on! We will be in Sonoma from July 25th thru the 28th. We’ll fly into and out of Oakland. We are staying at the Flamingo Resort in Santa Rosa. Cost for the weekend is about $800 person based upon double occupancy. We a single space left but will accept a couple and then work things out. A $400 deposit by cash or check will get you in on this fun trip.

We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

We have a new edition of the publication called Arizona Vines and Wines. It has a lot of information and is beautifully done. Look for it by the cash register next time you check out.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,

No wine class this week as Danica Patrick will be vying for an Indy win on Sunday. For those of you that are lucky enough to “get out of Dodge”, have a great time. Liza and I will be here at the shop for those that are sticking around.

Thanks to everyone that showed up last week! Bob and Dwight were nothing less than great! We really enjoyed listening to them. Next month they will play on the fourth Saturday (June 28th) rather than third Saturday as is the plan. And thanks for being kind to Lily of Valley of the Sun Distributors on her first presentation to us on Friday.

And it is official that Bryne Donaldson is going to show us what a saxophone can sound like on the first Saturday of each month. It should be a fun summer to get to hear such talented musicians twice each month.

We’ve kept the La Crema Anderson Valley and Los Carneros Pinot Noirs. And we will be bringing the Russian River Valley back soon.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,

Live music this Saturday at 6 PM! Bob Ravenscroft on piano and Dwight Kilian on the standup bass will be performing. No cover and no minimum.

Valley of the Sun has changed representatives for us so by way of introduction our new rep, Lily Wang, will be replacing Carol Howard at this week’s wine class. On Friday, the 16th, we will start with a Pinot Grigio and a Sauvignon Blanc from the Pepi Winery. Then especially for Clifton we will taste the appellation series of Pinot Noirs from La Crema. Those are the ones from Los Carneros, Russian River and Anderson Valley. And we will finish off with Peachy Canyon’s Westside Zin. Be nice to Lily for bringing in such a fine line up.

Thanks to everyone that showed up last Friday. You were great and Ron’s presentation was very well received. It really is too bad that he couldn’t give away all those great gifts he brought with him. Wink, wink!

Bob Ravenscroft and Dwight Kilian as Inner Journeys will play their great jazz on the 3rd Saturday of each month and that is this coming Saturday, May 17th. And it is official that Bryne Donaldson is going to show us what a saxophone can sound like on the first Saturday of each month. It should be a fun summer to get to hear such talented musicians twice each month.

Justin Orphan is back! I asked the distributor for all we could have and got a total of 2 cases. It is the same price as last year, $16.99 per bottle and every bit as good. We’ve got it behind the bar so you’ll have to ask for it.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,

The 3rd Annual Cave Creek Wines Wine Trip is on! We will leave early on Friday, July 25th. All that day, then Saturday and Sunday will be winery and vineyard touring in Sonoma. Monday will be a short tour and then back home. We’re still working on the wineries we’ll visit. We’ll fly into and out of Oakland. We have ground transportation for 7 hours each day and are staying at the Flamingo Resort in Santa Rosa. Breakfast is at the hotel and we’re working on lunches. Evening meals will be on your own.

Cost for the weekend is about $800 person based upon double occupancy. We only have space for 20 people so the first folks that stop by with a check for a $400 deposit per person will be in. Our credit card company won’t let me take deposits for travel so don’t bother to call.

Ron is back! Ron Fescko of Republic National Beverage Company is going to do the presentation this Friday, May 9th. This is a mixed bag of things we haven’t tasted before, a Chardonnay that I like a lot from Lincourt and a very affordable new Zin from Le Baron; some things we haven’t tasted in a while, the popular Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and the BIG Napa Cellars Zin; and a couple of wines we’ve had in the shop but may not have had at a class before, the finest Pinot Noir from Domaine Carneros and the Benziger Cabernet.

Thanks to Craig Driml of Devine Wines for conducting the wine class last Friday. It turns out that the Burford & Brown wines were excellent. The Barbera was the clear winner.

And thanks to Bryne Donaldson for moving us with his songs on Saturday night. I think it is official that he is going to show us what a saxophone can sound like on the first Saturday of each month. And Bob Ravenscroft and Dwight Kilian as Inner Journeys will play their great jazz on the 3rd Saturday. It should be a fun summer to get to hear such talented musicians twice each month.
