Hi all,

This Friday, May 2nd, Craig Driml of Divine Wines is going to present the wines of Burford and Brown. They make some excellent wines including a Pinot Grigio, a Merlot, a Zin, a Shiraz, a Barbera and a Verdelho. Peter Burford is an Australian (which explains the Shiraz rather than Syrah) with a winery in California. It should be a great time.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. There have been plenty of empty chairs the last couple of weeks.

Free Jazz Night! Bryne Donaldson and his sax will play on Saturday, May 3rd, starting at 6 PM. Bryne is really spectacular and plays a wide range of styles. We hope to get him to play regularly on the first Saturday of each month. No cover and no drink minimum. Inner Journeys with Bob Ravenscroft and Dwight Kilian will be back on the third Saturday in May for another free Jazz Night.

Thanks to Ron from Republic Beverage for conducting the blind tasting last Friday. It was a lot of fun. And thanks too to you that participated.

Nothing new on the 3rd Annual Cave Creek Wines trip. The date is July 25th thru 28th of July (that is a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday) and the place is going to be Sonoma. We’ve booked some rooms at the Flamingo Resort in Santa Rosa and are working on the airfare, transportation and itinerary. Once we have the dollars nailed down I will let you know and will be looking for deposits for those of you that would like to go. Just mark your calendars for now.

We have a couple of new wines by Praxis, a Merlot from Alexander Valley and a Viognier from Lodi. Both are wonderful!

Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,

Sometimes things don’t work out as planned. And sometimes that creates an opportunity. We booked a winemaker that we won’t name to appear next Friday, April 18th, but he can’t make it. So I’m going to show some of the new wines we have gotten in lately that you haven’t had a chance to see during a tasting. We’ll start with the alma rosa Pinot Gris from Santa Barbara, then try the Richard Hamilton Viognier from Australia, followed by the Angeline Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley, then Arizona’s own Pillsbury Roan Red, and conclude with a pair of Lisa Pretty’s Mission View Zin and Cab from Paso Robles.

We are limiting attendance to 45 guests.

Thanks to everyone that stopped by last week to hear Craig and taste the Barnard Griffin wines from Washington. Jimmy thinks this is LA but the food was great. The Riesling went perfectly with the chicken he prepared.

Inner Journeys will play again on Saturday, the 19th, with a little different line up. Bob Ravenscroft will be replaced by Jacob Koller on the piano and Dwight Kilian will be on the standup bass for this one time. On the third Saturday in May Bob will be back.

We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

We have a great new publication about the Arizona wineries. It has a lot of information and is beautifully done. Look for it by the cash register next time you check out.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,

Craig from Devine Wines will be doing the presentation this Friday, April 11th. We are going to feature the wines from Barnard & Griffin in Washington. We’ll start with a Fume that is tasting great, then try a Riesling, on to a wonderful Rose of Sangiovese, then a Merlot and a Cab and finish with the best Malbec you have ever had. And if that wasn’t enough, Chef Jimmy of Scott’s Place will be catering.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. Thanks to everyone that stopped by last week. Rootdown was great as was Bryne. And sandwiched in between was Scott recounting his trip to Australia and New Zealand. It obviously was fun and the wines were super.

The Cabernet and the Chardonnay (both were wonderful and a great value) from Solaire that we tasted two Fridays ago are in stock. If you wanted some but didn’t get any please ask as we have it behind the bar.

Inner Journeys (Bob Ravenscroft on the piano and Dwight Kilian on the standup bass) are going to play on the third Saturday of every month. So their next gig is on April 19th. Mark your calendars!
