Hi all,
Scott Greenwold from Southern Wine and Spirits has been is Australia and New Zealand the past few weeks. So this Friday, April 4th, he is going to come in and gloat by showing us some of the wonderful wines he tasted while there. I don’t have an exact list yet but he said they were great and it is always fun when he shows up.
Rootdown, as a quartet, is going to be in the shop performing at 6 PM on Thursday, April 3rd. They haven’t been in for awhile so we are looking forward to hearing them again. Of course there is no cover or no minimum drink, just come down and listen and enjoy. And then on Saturday, April 5th, Bryne Donaldson and his sax will play starting at 6 PM. He too hasn’t been in for awhile but we are trying to get him to play regularly on the first Saturday of the month.
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting attendance to 45 guests.
Thanks to everyone that stopped by last Friday. Jason introduced us to some fine wines and to his replacement Devin. I hope we didn’t scare Devin off. The Cabernet and the Chardonnay from Solaire by Robert Mondavi were the clear winners and we will have some more, still at discounted prices, on Tuesday.
Last year we discovered a great claret by Robert Karl up in Washington. It was a hit and soon sold out. Its back! And we’ve added a couple of exceptional Zins. The top of the line from Peter Franus is from the Brandlin Vineyard on Mount Veeder and the best from Starry Night is from the Montafi Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. All three are wonderful! And all three are in stock.
Inner Journeys (Bob Ravenscroft on the piano and Dwight Kilian on the standup bass) are going to play on the third Saturday of every month. So their next gig is on April 19th. Mark your calendars!
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
We have a great new publication about the Arizona wineries. It has a lot of information and is beautifully done. Look for it by the cash register next time you check out.
Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,
We are going to have a Sweet Sixteen party this Wednesday, March 26th. Obviously its not a birthday party but 16 tastes for $20. Craig Driml from Divine Wines will be doing the honors. Stop by and sample a bunch of great wines that will be available at great prices.
Well I’ve done it again. Jason Benedict from Alliance Beverage will be taking us to Spain for a couple of wines, then to California for a couple and to Australia for a couple of more. He was kind enough to tell me the exact line up a couple of times and I was able to lose the list a couple of times. The part I do remember is that they were all good and all reasonably priced.
Thanks to everyone that stopped by last Friday. And thanks to Ron from Republic National for being a little bit unconventional for us and for pouring the wines. It was a little bit different but still a lot of fun.

Hi all,
You can teach “old dogs” new tricks! I honestly had no idea of the range of flavors that could be made from a single grape. Toby, from Quail distributing, did a great job of picking different Pinot Noirs from around the country and around the world that demonstrated the wide variety that of tastes that can come from a single varietal.
Thanks to Jimmy of Scott’s Place for pairing the foods to the wines. The veggie lasagna was awesome! He always does a great job and we love having him. And thank you all for coming too.
For you non-Catholics, on March 21st, Good Friday, Ron from Republic National will be in the shop to sample some of his wines. No jokes, just a chance to try some good wines. There is not going to be a real wine class so there isn’t going to be a cover charge and there won’t be the usually great food. This is the kind of tasting you may have attended elsewhere. It is referred to as a “walk thru” tasting meaning that Ron will have some wines to sample and talk about but not a class like we usually do.
And we are going to have a Sweet Sixteen party on Wednesday, March 26th. Obviously its not a birthday party but 16 tastes for $20. Craig Driml from Divine Wines will be doing the honors.
Inner Journeys (Bob Ravenscroft on the piano and Dwight Kilian on the standup bass) attracted quite the crowd on Saturday. They were a pleasure to listen to. Plans are that we are going to have them in on the third Saturday of every month.

Hi all,
WOW! Thanks to all of you for making the Peter Franus tasting/class last night such a success. It was pretty hectic but fun. His wines really are amazing! And Chef Craig Anthony of the Edge of Taste did a marvelous job with the food. A great “Thank You” to both of them too.
On this Friday, March 14th, Toby from Quail Distributing will present Pinot Noirs from around world. I don’t know the order yet but we will taste Pinot Noirs from California, Oregon, Argentina, Italy, New Zealand and a country called France.
Unlike last night we are limiting attendance to 45 guests.
For you jazz lovers Inner Journeys (Bob Ravenscroft on the piano and Dwight Kilian on the standup bass) will play on Saturday, March 15th. They play a style of jazz that is rooted in history and great to listen to. Plans are that we are going to have them in on the third Saturday of every month.

Hi all,
Peter Franus, the winemaker at Peter Franus Wines, will be here this Saturday, March 8th! There won’t be a wine class on Friday the 7th. For $15 we will taste the Sauvignon Blanc, the Napa Zinfandel, the Mount Veeder Zinfandel and the Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. And we will pair them with the food of Chef Craig Anthony of the Edge of Taste. His wines are amazing and to be paired with such fine food is going to be great! You can visit Peter’s web site at www.franuswine.com and Craig’s at www.theedgeoftaste.com.
Thanks to everyone who came by last Friday for the Craig and Liz show. Liz represents some wonderful Australian wines and Craig made it all fun.
We are going to have the jazz duo Inner Journeys play on the third Saturday of each month. Mark your calendars for March 15th.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
