Hi all,
This is going to be a busy week!
The winery owner/wine maker August Kesseler from Germany (that is where they make a lot of Rieslings) is going to be in Phoenix Tuesday, January 29th, and is going to come by our shop for a wine tasting/class. It will start at 7 PM and is free (sorry no discount on the wines). He will bring his new wines (obviously some Rieslings but a rose and a Pinot Noir also). We have the Pinot, a Kabinett and a Spätlese in stock and the rest will be by order with a delivery in the middle of March. Please let me know by “Reply” to this email if you plan to attend. We’re not full yet. These are some great wines and a truly unique chance to meet the guy that makes them.
On Friday, Feb 1st, Craig Driml of Divine Wines is going to show us some of the fine wines from the Graziano Family in California. They include a SB and an old vine Zin under the Graziano name, a Primo Rosso and Sangiovese under the Monte Volpe name and an Arneis and a Barbara under the Enotria name. Craig’s tastings are a lot of fun and these are some wonderful wines.
Then on Sunday we are going to have a Super Bowl Pot Luck. We’ll be starting about 4 PM (because I can’t figure out what time the game starts). Please don’t prepare something yourself but buy something at the grocery store. We don’t want the health department mad at us. Liza is going to get the wings.
And while I’m at it Rootdown, your favorite improvisational jazz quartet, will play here on Thursday, February 28th, starting at 6 PM. Mark your calendars!
The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state.
Thanks to everyone who came by last Friday to listen to Jason. He did a great job and the wines were even better! We had another full house so we are reminding everyone that we are limiting attendance to 45 guests. Please don’t show up a minute or two before 6:00 PM and expect to get in.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
We have a great new publication about the Arizona wineries. It has a lot of information and is beautifully done. Look for it by the cash register next time you check out.
Sorry for the lengthy email,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,
Jason Benedict from Alliance Beverage has a great selection of wines for this Friday, Jan 25th. We’re going around the world. We’re going to start in Australia with a dry Riesling then get into the reds where we’ll taste Sangiovese/Merlot blend from Italy, a Merlot from Washington and three cabs. The cabs will conclude with one you may have heard of, Rombauer. It should be a great class!
The presentation will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. Chef Jimmy from Scott’s Place is going to cater the food to give Liza a break.
Thanks to everyone who came by last Friday to listen to Ron and try those excellent wines. He promised to never do another penguin joke as long as he lives.
We are limiting attendance to 45 guests. Please don’t show up a minute or two before 6:00 PM and expect to get in.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.
Keep smiling,

Hi all,
That is going to be hard to beat! Thanks so much to Skip from Starry Night Winery and Craig from Divine Wines for putting on a great wine class last Friday. There were a bunch of wonderful wines and a good time. And thank you for making it so.
Ron Feczko will give it a go this Friday, January 18th. It is going to be a blended evening. We’ve discovered a great new white blend from Australia called Memsie and it will be followed by another from California called Interchange. Then we’re into the reds! We’ll try the Memsie red blend, then Todd Hollow’s Erik the Red, a red blend from Crescendo in the Napa Valley called Virtuoso and a finish with a wonderful big Malbec/Cab/Merlot from Norton in Chile. It should be fun!
We are limiting attendance to 45 guests and we maxed out last Friday. Please don’t show up a minute or two before 6:00 PM and expect to get in.
Chef Jimmy from Scott’s Place will be back the 25th.
We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

Hi all,
We’re getting the New Year off to a great start with the wine maker from the Starry Night Winery (http://www.starrynightwinery.com/) in the shop for the wine class this Friday, January 11th. His name is Skip Granger and he makes a bunch of Zins. We’ll try his Sauvignon Blanc and a Petite Sirah besides Zins from Lodi, Widerotter Vineyard, Tom Feeny Ranch and the Russian River Valley. Craig Driml from Divine Wines has set this up and we certainly appreciate it. It should be fun!
The presentation will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. Contrary to the misinformation on last week’s email Jimmy, the personal chef from Scott’s Place, will not be catering the food. Apparently he got a better offer where he actually will make some money so Liza will be doing her magic in preparing the food. Since she has had a few weeks off she is looking forward to it. Jimmy will be back on the 25th.
