Hi all,
We’re back to regular hours this week and we will be having a wine class this Friday (November 30th). Tony Appell from Billington Wines will show us some of the wines from Chile and Argentina in his portfolio. You red wine lovers will appreciate the Cousino-Macul Merlot from Chile, the Tilia Merlot from Argentina, the 2 brothers Cabernet from Chile and the Alamos Malbec from Argentina. We will start with a token chardonnay (really crisp, clean and nice) from Cousino-Macul.
The presentation will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We have been having larger than expected crowds again so we are limiting attendance to 45 guests.
Thanks to Todd for coming up from Sonoita to show us his wines last Friday. It was nice to see him, taste his wines and find out all the latest happenings in the Arizona wine scene.
Chef Jimmy of Scott’s Place will be making his next appearance on Friday, December 7th.
We’ve started a “Match the Faces” contest. The proceeds will help out Linda’s girls. Bring in a baby picture and a grown up picture and we will post them on the wall. For $2 folks can guess which goes with which and the winner will get the right to buy a bottle of wine for a buck (Arizona laws being what they are).
We’re going to do another Fine Wines and Facials on a Thursday in December. We’ll let you know the exact date next week.
Keep smiling,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,
We’ll be closed Thanksgiving Day but will be open regular hours (noon to 9 PM) on Friday.
Todd Bostock, the owner and winemaker at Dos Cabezas Wineworks, will be doing the presentation at our wine class this Friday (November 23rd). We’ll be doing three whites and three reds. The whites are all single varietals (Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc & Viognier) and the reds are all blends (a secret blend called Red, a Mourvèdre/Grenache blend called El Norte & a Sangiovese/Cabernet blend called Toscano). These are some really nice wines that are very reasonably priced.
Even though we don’t expect a crowd on the day after Thanksgiving, we have been having larger than expected crowds again so we are limiting attendance to 45 guests.
Thanks to Dan from Paso Fino Distributing for doing a great presentation of some great wines. The desert wine called Black Monnkka was the clear winner as it sold out early and seemed to be enjoyed by everyone. I heard it described as caramel, Crème Brule and pecan pie. We’ll have more on Tuesday.
Chef Jimmy of Scott’s Place will be making his next appearance on Friday, December 7th.
The silent auction for the items to raise money for Linda’s girls went very well so she was able to raise a lot of money to make Christmas special for her girls at a local shelter.
We’re starting a “Match the Faces” contest. Again the proceeds will help out Linda’s girls. Bring in a baby picture and a grown up picture and we will post them on the wall. For $2 folks can guess which goes with which and the winner will get the right to buy a bottle of wine for a buck (Arizona laws being what they are).
Have a great turkey day,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,
Dan from Paso Fino will be doing the presentation at the wine class this Friday (November 16th). He too is a Cave Creek Wine class virgin but he’s big enough to take care of himself. He’ll be doing some wines for Thanksgiving including an unoaked Chard and a Pinot Noir from Tolosa. We’ll also do the SB and the Zin from Tobin James. And to round it out he’ll show us a Spanish Rosato and a dessert wine called Black Monkka. It should be as interesting as it will be fun.
The presentation will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with some appetizers provided by Casino Arizona. We have been having larger than expected crowds again so we are limiting attendance to 45 guests.
Thanks to Lena for doing another wonderful presentation of some great wines. Chef Jimmy of Scott’s Place did a wonderful job of pairing the food to compliment the wines. His next appearance is going to be on Friday, December 7th.

The car show yesterday (and hence why I didn’t get this newsletter out then) had a bunch of great cars. The AC Cobra won the “Best of Show” trophy.
We’re doing a silent auction for Chef Craig to prepare a dinner for 6 at your house. The bid is up to $320 so far. The conclusion will be at 5 PM this Friday just before the wine class. Linda has some other items in the silent auction too. There is a Teeth Whitening at Associated Dental, a One Hour Massage at the Chiropractic Company and a $500 gift card from Big O Tires. All the proceeds will benefit her Secret Shopper for girls at a local shelter. Come by before Friday to bid.
This Wednesday, November 14th, is the next free wine class. Brad from Action wines is going to show us three zinfandels including the Peter Franus Napa Valley Zin. He told me the other two but I forgot.
Todd Bostock, the new owner and old winemaker for Dos Cabezas, will be here on the 23rd to do the wine class and show us what he can do. And he can do a lot!

Hi all,
Lena from 4inWines will be doing the presentation at the wine class this week. She always brings the best Rieslings and this Friday (November 9th) will be no exception. There is going to be a range from the dry to the sweet with range in prices too. Lena always draws a crowd so show up early if you want a seat!
The presentation will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food in the valley at any wine tasting. We have been having larger than expected crowds again so we are limiting attendance to 45 guests.
Great news! Chef Jimmy of Scott’s Place next appearance is going to be this Friday, November 9th (I got confused and said the 11th in last week’s newsletter, sorry) when Lena from 4inWines is going to show us some great Rieslings.
The 11th of November is a Sunday and we will be having a car show in the parking lot of the Rose Garden Center. There will be lots of rods and classics to see and prizes to be won if you have some thing you want to show off. We’re also doing a silent auction for Chef Craig to prepare a dinner for 6 at your house. I think the bid is only $240 so far.
Thanks to everyone that came by to listen to Carol. She did a great job of showing us some great wines.
Mark you calendars for Wednesday, November 14th, as that will be the next free wine class. Brad from Action wines is going to show us three zinfandels including the Peter Franus Napa Valley Zin. Dan from Paso Fino is going to do the presentation on the 16th and Todd Bostock, the new owner and old winemaker for Dos Cabezas, will be here on the 23rd.
And if you haven’t been in lately, we have a HDTV up in the corner and it will be tuned into the NFL game on Sundays. And we’re watching the World Series too. Come by for a glass and cheer a bit for your team.
Keep smiling,
Liza and Bob
